It’s been a week since we returned from the SCLU Spring Conference 2019 and we’ve now had the chance to catch the whole team up on a great weekend.

Set in the Stirling University Court Hotel, the weekend was all about learning, socialising and talking all things credit union. Dermot O’Neill, the CEO of SLCU, made sure all 130 delegates were well attended to and they were even treated to some pampering throughout the weekend. From massages, to golf, to morning walks around the beautiful campus, SLCU made sure that all of their guests were relaxed enough for a weekend of workshops and networking.

There were some great workshops hosted over the weekend and we had the pleasure of attending some. We particularly enjoyed, ‘What makes a great credit union,’ by Bobby Gould from CMutual. This workshop was interesting, and Bobby drew on some research from the Filene Institute and shared knowledge on how high performing credit unions share some key characteristics. Something both ourselves and the credit union delegates found useful.

Delegates were offered a whole host of other workshops such as ‘The History of Credit Unions,’ ‘Roles and Responsibilities of the Board,’ and ‘Women and Leadership.’ We were so impressed with the range of workshops offered and glad that we were given the opportunity to listen in. It wasn’t just the credit unions that learned a lot over the weekend, we did too!

A big highlight for us when we attend SLCU is catching up with some of our wonderful customers. It’s great to spend a weekend with them and SLCU was also a great opportunity for us to connect with some other credit unions who were excited to see how far Soar have come since we first spoke to them in 2017.

We would like to extend a huge thanks to SLCU for their support as always and making the Soar team feel very welcome. We’re already looking forward to the Autumn conference where we’ll have even more to share with SLCU members.
